Sixer · how the desk handles reader data

The desk is a quiet reading layer. The desk does not run a fantasy app, does not process deposits and does not hold reader accounts. This page describes what the desk does collect when you read, what the desk does with it and how to ask the desk to delete it.

What the desk collects

The desk collects three classes of data. First, server logs: your IP address, the page you requested, the browser user-agent string and the referrer header. Server logs are written by the desk's hosting provider and retained for 30 days for security and abuse-detection purposes.

Second, analytics: aggregate page-view counts and referrer counts. The desk uses a privacy-respecting analytics layer that does not set cross-site tracking cookies and does not record IP addresses in analytics storage. The desk does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or any advertising tracker.

Third, voluntary submissions: when you email the desk at [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected], the desk stores the email message, your email address and any attachment you sent. Voluntary submissions are retained while the desk considers them for publication or partnership, and for up to 24 months thereafter.

What the desk does not collect

The desk does not collect your name, date of birth, PAN, Aadhaar, bank account, UPI ID, deposit amount, contest history, withdrawal history, captain pick history or any operator-published account data. The desk cannot see your fantasy app account; the desk does not request operator login credentials and will never ask you to share them by email.

The desk does not set advertising cookies. The desk does not run retargeting pixels. The desk does not sell reader data to data brokers. The desk does not share reader data with third-party advertisers.

Who the desk shares data with

The desk shares server logs with the desk's hosting provider, which retains them for 30 days under a standard data-processing agreement. The desk shares aggregate analytics counts with no third party. The desk does not share email submissions with any third party except when compelled by Indian law (a court order, a MeitY notice or a law-enforcement request under the IT Act 2000).

The desk does not transfer reader data outside India. The desk's hosting provider stores server logs in a Mumbai region. The desk's email inbox is hosted on a provider that stores mail in India.

Reader rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 ("DPDP Act"), you have the right to ask the desk what data the desk holds about you, to ask for a correction, and to ask for a deletion. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with the request. The desk replies within 15 days.

If the desk has published an editorial page that names you or quotes a tip you sent, you may ask the desk to retract or anonymise the quote. The desk honours retraction requests within 15 days unless the desk is compelled to retain the record by Indian law.

Children's data

The desk does not publish content aimed at readers under 18. The desk does not knowingly collect data from readers under 18. If you believe the desk has collected data from a reader under 18, please email [email protected] and the desk will delete the record within 7 days.

Changes to this notice

The desk updates this privacy notice when the desk's data practices change. The desk posts a change-log entry at the foot of this page. The desk does not retroactively weaken reader rights; if the desk widens the scope of collected data, the desk asks existing readers for fresh consent where the DPDP Act requires it.
